Dorothy May Gebhard (Murray) 89, formerly of Grand Island passed away Sept. 30, 2016, at Sunrise Senior Living in Frisco, Texas.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Apfel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grand Island Cemetery.

Dorothy May (Murray) Gebhard was born November 18, 1926 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland to Francis & Annie (Lawson) Murray.
She met her husband Harlan Henry Gebhard while he was serving as a Sergeant with the 8th Army Air Force in England during World War II. They were married June 9, 1945 in Kirkcaldy Scotland.
Upon arrival in the United States in late1945 she lived for several years in Alma, Nebraska prior to moving to Washington and then back to Nebraska. Upon returning to Nebraska she lived in several towns before settling in Grand Island.
She was an avid bowler, enjoyed shopping, travel, and was an ardent Nebraska football fan.
She moved to Sunrise Senior Living in Frisco, Texas in December 2014.
Their marriage was blessed with four children. Surviving are COL (retired) Norman A. Gebhard of Mckinney, Texas and Dale H. Gebhard of Palm Coast, Florida.
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband; two children, Daughter Diane F. Gebhard & Son Bruce E. Gebhard.
