Injuries Are Fatal to Former Resident
A former resident of Raymondville, Mrs. Ada Bell Hayes, of Leander,and her husband, Joe Crittenden Hayes of Leander, suffered fatal injuries as they walked across the highway to church at Leander last Wednesday. Services for the couple were held at the Church of Christ in Leander Friday. Mrs. Hayes is survived by seven brothers, Bennie Knox, Earl Knox and Elwood Knox of Raymondville, William Knox of Liberty Hill, Buel and Alvin Knox of Bertram, and Iburn Knox of Corpus Christi. Mrs. Hayes formerly was the wife of the late Dr. Samuel Dowda.

Double Rites for Leander Couple Set

Leander, Jan. 3--double funeral services for Joe Crittenden Hayes and wife Ada Bell Hayes, who were killed as they walked across the highway to church will be held at Leander Church Of Christ Friday at 2 p.m. with ministers N.C. Forrester and Frank Downs officiating. Burial will be in Bagdad Cemetery. The bodies will be at Hyltin-Manor Funeral Home until noon when they will be taken to the church to lie in state prior to the services. Hayes is survived by two sons, Weldon Hayes and Elmer Hayes both of Austin; one sister, Mrs. J.S. Freeman of Austin, one brother, Bud Hayes of Liberty Hill one sister, Mrs. Ella Hardcastle of Bertram and 10 grandchildren. Mrs. Hayes is survived by seven brothers, Bennie Knox, Earl Knox and Elwood Knox of Raymondville, William Knox of Liberty Hill, Buel and Alvin Knox of Bertram, and Iburn Knox of Corpus Christi.
