Margaret June Vanderlip

Margaret J. Hoyt was born in Seattle, the fourth of seven children, in 1918. After graduating from Garfield High School she attended beauty school. She worked in a beauty shop, out of her home, and in nursing homes during her career. She married Martin Vanderlip on August 21, 1940. The had four daughters: Judy Anderson, Everett, WA; Nancy (Roger) Ferch, Chicago; Patti (Steve) Thomas, Snohomish, and Linda Swendsen, deceased. Margaret stayed in her Ballard home she and Martin built until 1993 when she moved to Smokey Point, WA. From there she still commuted weekly to the Hilltop House on Capitol Hill in Seattle to do her hair work, at the age of 75 years. Though she had some health issues over the past few years, she was known as "Our Ever Ready Bunny" to her family and residents at Cascade Valley Senior Living in Arlington where she spent the last four years of her life. After illness that most would not recover from, Margaret continued to show her love for life by coming back time and time again.

Margaret passed into another life on July 23, 2013, at 95 years of age. She is survived by three of her four daughters, Judy, Nancy, and Patti; 8 grandchildren, Ryan and Lisa Ferch, Mike Edelbrock, Rebecca Sherrett, Melissa Anderson, Brandon Thomas, Alicia DeGeus, and Katie Swendsen; and, 10 great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her smile that lit up a room, her love of life, and a spirit for caring for others that we all admire. She will be missed by all she touched.
