Sarah was born December 24, 1934 at home in New Washington to the late Walter J. and Mable (Light) Auck. She was a graduate of Tiro High School. Sarah had worked at Shelby Salesbook Company until 1966 when her family moved to Arizona. While in Arizona, she worked for, and later retired from, JCPenney in Phoenix. While in Arizona, Sarah and her family had a horse boarding stable where at one time they had over 100 boarded horses on their 40 acre farm. After the death of her husband in 1989 she returned to her family farm in Crestline to care for her parents. In the winter months, Sarah enjoyed embroidery as a hobby.
Sarah is survived by: her daughter: Penny (Roy) Fulcher of Phoenix, AZ; her brother: Warren (Shirley) Auck of Crestline; her sister, Florence Striker of Kenton; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James William “Bill” Simpson in 1989.
Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 12 noon- 1 pm at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1 pm with Pastor Walter Keib, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Shelby, officiating. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale, Arizona. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
