Amador Ledger, 31 March 1905

Obituary.

Andrew Arata, one of the pioneer residents of the vicinity of Clinton, died at his homestead near that place on Saturday last, after a period of sickness extending over a week. He was of the advanced age of 78 years, but seemed well and strong, considering his years, up to within a short time of his death. The death of his son Frank, which occurred on the 4th of March, seemed to have produced a deep impression upon him, and bis health rapidly failed from that date. Deceased was a native of Italy. He came to this section in early days. He leaves two sons, Lorenzo and Lazzo Arata, also two daughters, both married, Mrs. J. Podesta of Jackson, and Mrs. M. Ratto of San Francisco. The funeral took place on Tuesday, the remains being deposited in the Jackson Catholic cemetery, Rev. Father Gleeson officiating.
