She was born Juanita Lucille Barnes on April 5, 1919, in Damon, Texas, to Charles Vance Barnes and Jovita Estelle Mulcahy Barnes. Raised in church, she was a strong and dedicated Christian all of her 91 years.
She married Henry Hector Hoelewyn on October 10, 1936, and shared 67 wonderful years before the Lord took him home in June 2003.
She was a loving and resourceful Mother of 12 children who calmly kept them grounded throughout the years.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia with Harry Peyton officiating. Burial will follow at Damon Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brent Hairston, Edward Lewis, Wes Kennedy, Levi Nett, Carl Hoelewyn, Travis Hoelewyn, James Nichols, Chris Barina, Brian Barina, Brent Barina, Timothy Hoelewyn, Kevin Hoelewyn, Nicholas Elster, Jonathan Elster, Edward Hoelewyn, Danual Hays, and Earl Maddox.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; parents, Charles and Jovita Barnes; brother, Richard Barnes; sister, Dorothy Baker; son, Edward T. Hoelewyn; and grandson, Ronald F. Barina.
She is survived by her sisters, Anne Crosland and Charlene Johnson; her children, Joy Hairston, Iva Lewis, Mary Nett, Charles (Rita) Hoelewyn, Linda (Kirby) Nichols, Wanda (Donald) Wagner, Marcia (Randell) Barina, David (Carmen) Hoelewyn, Helene (Allen) Elster, Mark Hoelewyn, Margaret (John) Pingleton; 30 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.
What a legacy to leave behind….Mother, you will be missed by us all.
