Charles L. Kistler III, 76, of Fogelsville, died Monday in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Rau) Kistler for 54 years in May. Born in Weisenberg Township, he was a son of the late Charles Leroy and Lillian (Wagaman) Kistler. He grew up on a farm and graduated from high school. He had been a square dance caller for 30 years and comedian for country and western bands. He worked for Bridsberg Foundry, Fullerton, and was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor. He was an auctioneer for 35 years. He was also a deputy sheriff for Lehigh County, Court Crier for Judge Koch, last full-time Lehigh County commissioner and past register of wills. He had been on the WHOL radio Pennsylvania Dutch Show and president of Ground Hog Lodge 16 for 34 years. He was a past member of the Airport Authority and past president of the Lehigh County Credit Union. He was instrumental in having Cedar View High Rise built. He was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield. He was a loving father, grandfather and Pop Pop and an all around great person to know.
Survivors: Wife; son, Charles L. IV of Fogelsville; brother, Edwin of Northampton; two grandchildren, Brittany Kistler and Nicole Garise; great-grandson, Kyle.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield, with the Rev. Donald W. Hayn officiating. Call 9-11 a.m. Friday in the church.
Interment, church cemetery. Arrangements by Keller Funeral Homes Inc., Fogelsville.
