Willard E. Westfall, 68, of Knox Cave Road, died Dec. 23 at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Duanesburg, Mr. Westfall had lived in the Duanesburg-Knox area all his life, most recently on Knox Cave Road, at the home of Waldo Chestnut, for the past year.

He retired in 1979 after many years as a laborer in the Town of Knox Highway Department.

An Army veteran of World War II, he received the Bronze Star and was a member of the James Duane Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was married to Olive Ostrander Westfall until her death in 1980.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Dorothy Crowl of Gloversville and Margie Shafer of Township Road; two stepsons, David Shafer of Route 146, Knox, and David Shafer of West Berne; two brothers, Clarence Westfall of Virginia and Carl Westfall of Schenectady, four sisters, Hilda Muzzy and Marion Waleski, both of Schenectady; Agnes Putman of Esperance and Olive Orsini of Township Road; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 28 at the White Van Buren Funeral Home, Delanson. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery in Quaker Street.
