Harold E. Westfall, of Beards Hollow Road, died March 7, 2000 at Little Falls Hospital at the age of 73.

Born in Schenectady, Mr. Westfall was a 1944 graduate of Altamont High School. He moved to Schoharie County in 1950.

For 25 years, Mr. Westfall was a rural letter carrier for the Richmondville Post Office, retiring in 1988. Harold was an Army veteran of World War II. He was past master of the Helderberg and Summit granges and a former member of the board of directors of the Schoharie County Community Action Program. He was active in local and county Boy Scout and Cub Scout programs and Little League.

Harold was a former treasurer and secretary of the Schoharie County Rural Letter Carriers and a member of the New York State and National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was also a member of the Lamb of God Christian Community of Cobleskill and a former member of the Summit Baptist Church.

His wife, Mabel Johnson Westfall, whom he married in 1953, died in 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Fort of Richmondville and Gloria Jean Williams of Townsville, S.C.; a son, Harold E. "Bud" Westfall of Port Orange, Fla.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Services held at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home in Cobleskill.
