LYLE SHOEMAKER was in the roofing business in Alba, MO.
According to to friends and co-workers that knew Lyle well, recounts how Lyle tended to be a rather quick driver, but he always drove himself, never did ride with anyone else. On the evening of July 7, 1964 Lyle left Alba with another guy, and for the first time ever. . . Lyle was NOT driving, the other person was. They headed toward Webb City on State Highway 'D' and as they passed by the East end of Oronogo, MO., there is a large S shaped curve before the road heads on straight south towards Center Creek.
The S curve is at Ivy Road and State Highway 'D' and at that place, is where the fatal accident occurred. Lyle suffered a cerebral laceration contusion and passed away 3 days later.
He was buried in Friends Cemetery in Purcell, MO. with his wife Veda, under the direction of Johnston-Simpson Mortuary in Webb City, MO.
