Sleepy Eye Herald dated December 3, 1920:

Nels Nelson one of the old and respected residents of the county, passed away at his home in Cobden Tuesday, November 30th cancer being the cause of his death from which he suffer the past six months. The deceased was born in Denmark, September 28, 1842, and came to this country 53 years ago, settling on a farm near Cobden on which he resided until about ten years ago, when he moved to Cobden owhere he lived up to the time of his death. He was married twice, both of his wives preceeding him in death. To his first union eight children were born, five of whom are living. They are Henry at home, John of Wabassso, Mrs. John Blettner, Andrew and Mrs. Louis Engelking of Sleepy Eye. The deceased had reached the advance age of 78 years, 2 months and 2 days. He was a man who was held in high repect by his neighbors and friends and his demise is deplored by all.

The funeral will be held in the Cobden church at one o'clock Friday afernoon and at Brookville church at three o'clock, the services to be conducted by Rev. Bolvig of Mankato. Interment with be made in the Brookville Cemetery.
