GREENSBORO- Mr. Donald Ellis Gaydon, 71, of Greensboro, went home to be with the Lord after a short battle with cancer Friday, August 24, 2007, at Wesley Long Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Clifton Road Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Smith and Rev. Don Rumble will be officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Don was born November 19, 1935, in Greensboro, the son of Jackson Claude and Grace Gaydon.

Don was an active member of Clifton Road Baptist Church. He retired after 35 years in the elevator business and was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #80. Don was also a talented wood worker and he loved motorcycle riding.

Surviving are his wife Betty Jeffreys Gaydon; daughters, Judy Gaydon Mills of Greensboro, Charlotte Gaydon Kiger of Laurinburg; sons, Don Gaydon, Jr. and wife Robin of Hesperia, Calif., and Dale Holder of Greensboro; brother, Jackson Claude Gaydon, Jr. and wife Sarah of Concord; sister, Dorothy Gaydon Rochelle of Greensboro; grandchildren, Christian and Sarah Gaydon, Angela and David Mills, and Cory Kiger; great-grandchildren, Derek and Alyssa; and five nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
