-- Published in The Medford Mail Tribune, 09/23/2016:

Barbara Albern went to her Heavenly reward Tuesday, September 19, 2016 attended by her family. She was peaceful and happy, and deservedly so.

Born in Lexington, Okla. to Pearl and Abraham Phillips, Barbara was a child of the Dust Bowl era. She endured an itinerant and struggling childhood with grace and an unselfish manner. She lived in Texas and Arizona and settled with her family in Oregon as an adult. Her father was a homebuilder.

In 1955 she married Lloyd Albern who preceded her in death in 2009.

Barbara had three children and devoted her life to them, her family, and neighbors with great kindness, manners, and goodwill to all.

Barbara worked for many years at the Center Café in Central Point, Ore. and was a pleasant and friendly personality, remembered by many. She truly loved and enjoyed the Crater High School students.

Barbara had a great compassion for all people, giving of her time and energy so that others could live and be happy. No sweeter woman ever carried on as well as she did.

She leaves behind her three children, two beautiful grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Barbara was loved and admired by all who knew her.

Our family is most grateful to numerous persons who helped with Barbara's care, all of whom acted with great heart and professionalism, Fire District # 3 personnel, Providence Hospital Staff, Providence Home Health Staff, Trinity Valley Pharmacy, and Providence Hospice. We could not have carried on without them and their good work. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
