Amalia Delphine “Del” “Non” Avina, 79, of Pueblo, passed away on Sept. 18, 2016, in Pueblo.
Del is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart of 61 years, Jesus Avina; children, Jess (Jean Leier) Avina, Wayne (Loretta Lucero) Avina, Brian (Denise) Dutton and Dominic (Stephanie Chavez) Dutton; sister, Beatrice Lucero; grandchildren, Anastasia and Mariya; great-aunt, Adeline Aragon; nephew, Richard Aragon; niece, Louise Aragon; and numerous family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joni Fair Hospice House/Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care of Pueblo or the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org. The family of Del wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the medical staffs at Parkview Medical Center and Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care; and to the many family and friends who gave their love and support through this difficult time. Viewing prior to services. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at Romero Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Romero Family Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens. Amalia Delphine “Del” “Non” Avina, 79, of Pueblo, passed away on September 18, 2016 in Pueblo. Del was born in Walsenburg, CO, to Helen and Adolph Lopez on May 26, 1937. She went to school at Central High School in Pueblo. She married Jesus Avina in 1957. She is known in the community for helping young people and took care of dozens of children throughout the years. Del always wlcomed a neighborhood child who needed money or food, and would give them a pep talk before sending them on their way. She enjoyed cooking, baking and traveling, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Del is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Adolph Lopez. Del is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart of 61 years Jesus Avina; children, Jess (Jean Leier) Avina, Wayne (Loretta Lucero) Avina, Brian (Denise) Dutton and Dominic (Stephanie Chavez) Dutton; sister Beatrice Lucero; grandchildren Anastasia and Mariya; great aunt Adeline Aragon; nephew Richard Aragon; niece Louise Aragon and numerous family and friends.
