Harold Harris Sheldon, 80, died Feb. 21, 1997, in Colorado Springs. He retired after 38 years as a letter carrier; and previously worked for the Colorado Springs bus compnay transporting troops to Camp Carson. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m . Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Ave. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Evangelical Free Church, 820 N. 30th St. Private burial is planned. Mr. Sheldon was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Yoder to Joseph Harris and Aurelia (Groff) Sheldon, who are deceased. He was married Nov. 25, 1937, in Colorado Springs to Grace Sagerser, who lives in Colorado Springs. He is also survived by a son, Steve of Dallas; four daughters, Sally Voumard and Lou Ann Neal, both of Colorado Springs, Laura Rosario of Fort Benning, GA., and Lisa McCormick of Omaha, Neb,; a brother, George of Colorado Springs; a sister, Beth Schultz of Fairfield, Calif,; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandcaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Paul, and four sisters, Eva Sheldon, Agnes Chidester, Aurelia Escritt, and Gladys Sheldon. Mr. Sheldon graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1935. He was active with the youth and in the choir at First Evangelical Free Church, and also held several positions with the Letter Carriers Union. The house in which his parents homesteaded in Yoder was destroyed by fire and then rebuilt using sod. Mr. Sheldon had lived in Colorado Springs since 1929. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Free Church, 820 N. 30th St., Colorado Springs 80904; or Pikes Peak Hospice, 3630 Sinton Road, Suite 302, Colorado Springs 80907.
