My uncle was the youngest of six children; three boys, three girls...my mother's baby brother. Donald had one kidney removed due to cancer, and a few years later, was diagnosed again, and lost the fight.
My mother and I spent almost everyday with him during the summer of 2004. We had a blast.
Donald stayed only 12 hours at Serenity Gate (Heart of Georgia Hospice) before passing. Though his stay was short, it is because of him that I became an active volunteer with Heart of Georgia Hospice. They're like family now.
He is missed greatly.
