Lela Virginia "Ginny" Doyle, recently of Carmel CA passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday July 26, 2016. She has now joined her beloved husband Terry for the remainder of their journey.
A resident of Nevada most of her life, both in Reno and Pahrump, then the last 12 years in Bakersfield, CA and Carmel, CA she was born September 5, 1928 in Tallmansville, Upshur County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Rev. Francis A. Mercer and Gourney Virginia Carter Mercer. Mom met the love of her life, Virgil Lee "Terry" Doyle on December 24, 1948. They married February 4, 1949 and remained alongside each other in every aspect of their lives until he passed in October 2011. She and Terry had three children.
While we are left to mourn the loss of our mother we are also left with a lifetime of wonderful memories and love. Mom leaves her three children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Michael & Veronika Doyle, Virginia "Gigi" Doyle Schaaf & Alan Schaaf, Judy Doyle Ryan & James Ryan Jr.; Grandchildren: Kristina Doyle, Leland Doyle, Christina Warne and Michael Doyle; Jennifer, Kircie and Spencer Schaaf; Christopher (Jennifer) Ryan, Shana Ryan (Brian) Grove, Danielle Ryan (Jeffrey) Griffith-Jones, Maria Ryan (Jason) Bellorado; 6 great grandchildren. Her two surviving brothers Herb (Ethel) Mercer and Jim (Angie) Mercer as well as many, many dear friends and extended family.
We wish to thank the staff at Carmel Hills Care Center for the care provided in the last 2 1/2 years, as well as the staff at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula.
Interment will be at the Bakersfield National Cemetery with a memorial on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10:45am.
