Born June 12, 1909, in Ash County, N.C., he was a son of the late Wiley and Elizabeth Osborne Vanoy.
He was a farmer and a member of Cold Springs Primitive Baptist Church. He was the widower of Marie Goode Vanoy.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne Vanoy Jr. and Dean Vanoy, both of Columbia, and Ronald Vanoy of Cincinnati; a daughter, Inez Cain of Liberty; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cold Springs Primitive Baptist Church by the Revs. Roger Price, Charlie Taylor and Kenneth Blevins.
Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
