Alexander George Irwin Adrian Laughlin was the son of Irwin Boyle Laughlin and Therese Eleanor Iselin Laughlin. Both Alexander and his older sister, Gertrude, are listed in the 1930 census (in Madrid, Spain, where their father was the US Ambassador "diplomatist" to Spain at the time), and the census indicates that both children were born at the American Embassy in London, England.

Alexander Laughlin died in Gibraltar. According to a notice in the New York Post, May 18, 1935: "GIBRALTER, May 18, (AP) - Alexander Laughlin, seventeen, of Pittsburgh, a son of Irwin B. Laughlin, former United States Ambassador to Spain, died of pneumonia here today. The youth landed here ill from the liner Voltaire."

"Pittsburgh, Pa., May 18. - (AP) -
Alexander Laughlin, 17 year old heir of the Pittsburgh steel family, died today of pneumonia, members of the family were informed by cable. A London specialist, summoned by airplane, had treated the youth. His father, Irwin B. Laughlin, former United States ambassador to Spain, and his mother were at the bedside. The family had been on a cruise."

Alexander Laughlin was survived by his parents, Irwin and Therese Iselin Laughlin, and his beloved older sister, Gertrude.

Alexander George Irwin Adrian Laughlin was the son of Irwin Boyle Laughlin and Therese Eleanor Iselin Laughlin.
