A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Lon Jennings Dalton and Janet Calloway Dalton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Dalton Carpenter, who died March 11, 1975. She was a member of Scotts Creek Baptist Church in Sylva.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harley Carpenter Jr.; daughter, Evelyn Carpenter Greer of Franklin; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Burrell, Tommy Carpenter, Rink Hallford, Jeff Carpenter, John Wilson and Brian Cabe.
