"Louise was born in Rockdale, Texas to Walter E. and Essie White who were native Texans, as were their parents. She grew up with a younger brother, Walter "Wally" E. White.
Her father owned a dry goods store and nearby shallow oil wells in the small farming community. Louise was graduating high school at the age of 16, in the middle of the Great Depression. Unable to afford a college education, she returned to high school and took bookkeeping and typing. Through a family friend, she got a job with the Texas Railroad Commission in the state capitol.
There began some of the happiest days of her early life dating University of Texas students and working to help support her parents and younger brother. It was there she met and married a UT student, Gene Oliver. A son, Larry White Oliver was born to that union.
After Gene's sudden death in an automobile accident eight years later, Louise married a co-worker, Harvey R. Greesen. He adopted her two-year-old son whose named changed to Larry Oliver Greesen. Two years later, Gail was born, and two years following, Karen was born.
Twenty-two years later, with three children grown, Louise married Howard E. Decker, a devout Christian and a single father with four children. He possessed qualities that quickly endeared him to her children.
Howard's four children also happily welcomed Louise into their family. Howard was an outstanding father but was a terrible cook. The two children still at home were elated to see an end to the normal dinner fare of TV dinners. Solving the donut breakfast was a bit more difficult.
With a total of seven children between them, birthdays and holidays became joyous occasions and the blending went smoothly. Although all the children have their own homes now, Thanksgiving and Christmas bring most together here in San Antonio to this day.
Having worked for the government for so many years, Louise was delighted to experience the perks that were available to a husband who owned his own business. His professional organizations took them to conventions around the world. She really enjoyed the travel and always made friends wherever they went.
In 1984, Howard and Louise built a home in Encino Park, and they joined the Northside Church Of Christ. They both loved the church and the fellowship there.
All of Louise's children and many friends were grateful for her loving example and gracious spirit. Her daughters, Gail and Karen, shared responsibility for preparing her for bed each night for over a decade. The staff at the Stone Oak Care Center, New Century Hospice and Caring Companions were like family.
Louise is survived by her son, Larry Greesen, wife Maerene; her two daughters, Gail Wilson, and husband Cleve, and Karen Greesen; three grandchildren, Bree Wilson Soileau, Jay Wilson and Allan Henderson, all of San Antonio.
Louise's stepchildren are David Decker, wife Hoa, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Love Decker, of Carrollton; Devon Decker, wife Teresa, of Houston; and Dean Decker, of San Antonio; also five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northside Church Of Christ, 19818 Hwy. 281 North. Graveside services with interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park on Austin Hwy."
