GARDEN CITY - Wilma Elizabeth Goulding, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Harrison County, Mo., to William Sherman and Veva Elizabeth Spence Cox. She moved to Lakin with her family in the fourth grade and graduated from Lakin High School in 1938. After graduating college in Wichita, she moved back to Garden City and worked for Woolworth's. On July 18, 1942, she married Donald Eugene Goulding in Johnson. He died Aug. 6, 1976. During World War II, Mrs. Goulding lived in Michigan and worked for Swift and Co. while her husband was in the service. They moved back to Garden City after the war and she worked for KNCO radio station and The Garden City Telegram as a bookkeeper until 1986. A member of the Presbyterian Church in Garden City, she also was a member of a bridge club for more than 60 years, enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, cooking and making candy. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Daryl Cox and Charles Cox. Survivors include a daughter, Candace Elizabeth Katz of Deerfield; two sisters, Joyce LeBeau of Pueblo West, Colo., and MaryLu Dechant of Denver; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church in Garden City, with the Rev. Dave Sweley presiding. A private burial will take place in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
