Hub married Elizabeth Adams in Maiden, NC on April 26, 1916. They lived in Newton and had 5 children. Their oldest son, R.H. Jr "Dickey" died at age 8 after being struck by an automobile. Their youngest baby girl died at birth due to being born prematurely. Elizabeth died 9 days later in 1930. Hub was a successful cars salesman and manager.
