After arriving in Vietnam Winford was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
As of 20 March 1968, his body has not been recovered. Group burial.
Survived by his father, Matthew McCosar of Holdenville, Oklahoma and his mother, Nellie McCosar of Bell, California.
