Silas Garrett Divers was born in Franklin County, Virginia. His marriage bond in that county was dates 1834, but the marriage was recorded Aug. 23, 1838. He married Louise Divers, a cousin, born June 28, 1817 and died Feb. 21, 1913 or 1915 at Cretcher, Saline, Mo. Their children were Gillianne, Amanda Jane, Elizabeth and Amarilla Chester Divers (who married Joseph Green Harris) Two of their children, Benjamin and Samuel, are buried at Hopewell.

Note: The above info was recorded by Genevieve Carter in the Pioneers of Pettis county. According to her records, Silas Divers is buried at Hopewell. According to his wife Louisa Divers Shackelford's obituary, they were married in 1835 in Virginia and came to Pettis county in 1845 and was left a widow a year later with 4 children: Mrs. William (Gilliam Ann) Treece, Mrs. Cornelius (Amanda Jane) Reynolds, Mrs. Joseph (Amarilla) Harris and Mrs. Thomas (Betty Shults). She married T. S. Shackelford in 1857, and they had no children together.
