Mrs. J. Q. Adams, age 83, widow the late Rev. J. Q. Adams, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. E. Mattison, 1231 Twentieth street, at 2 o'clock yesterday morning. Death was due to an attack of grippe with which she had been taken sick last Tuesday. Mrs. Adams was very well known in Rock Island and her death will come as a shock to many.

Mrs. Adams was born in Canada in April, 1834, and has been a resident of Illinois since 1871. Her late husband had held pastorates in Illinois in a number of Methodist churches.

Rev. Mr. Adams died in Rock Island two years ago.

She is survived by two sons, J. C. Adams of Phoenix, Ariz., and Harry C. of Washington, a daughter, Mrs. S. Eugene Mattison, and two grandchildren, George Graham of Rock Island and Mrs. Rockwell of Washington, D. C.

Mrs. Adams' death ends a truly beautiful life. She was a conscientious worker in the church and had many noble traits of character that everyone highly respected.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 tomorrow morning at the late home. Rev. Samuel Van Pelt, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate. Interment will be in Chippiannock.
