David Edward Holbrook, age 70, passed away September 12, 2016 near Leesburg, Indiana as the result of injuries which he sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

David was born on July 18, 1946 in Warsaw, Indiana. He was the son of Paul Holbrook and Florence (Stoddard) Holbrook. Having lived in the area most of his life, David was a 1964 graduate of Warsaw High School, Warsaw, Indiana.

He entered into service with the United States Air Force on Dec 2, 1964 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served in the 4th Field Maintenance Squadron as a machinist and was based at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Airman 2nd Class David E. Holbrook was honorably discharged on September 28, 1967.

David was married to Lella Hite on September 17, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada – this Saturday would have been their twenty-fifth anniversary.

David was a past commander of VFW Post #1162 in Plymouth, Indiana and was a member of American Legion Post #49 in Warsaw. He enjoyed woodworking and four-wheeling. Although David could be “hard-headed,” everyone knew that he had a huge heart; Nothing meant more to David than time spent with family.

Those who are left broken-hearted by his passing include his wife: Lella Marie Holbrook of Warsaw; son: Donnie Holbrook of Warsaw; daughter: Theresa Holbrook of Warsaw; step-son: Bill (Leonda) Vance of Pierceton; step-daughter: Mindy (Bruce) Yeazel of Warsaw; four sisters: Patricia Gaye Justice, Deidra Carol Hughes, Dara Lee Hale and Barbara Sue “Bobbie” Hale; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Hite (Dick Ault) of Akron, Indiana and Suzanne Hite (Larry Hyden) of Mentone, Indiana; a brother-in-law: Bob (Connie) Hite of Akron; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, those who preceded David in death include a son: David Paul Holbrook; three brothers: Wayne Hughes, John Michael Hughes and Rickey Allen Hughes; three sisters: Kathy Lucille Ward, Izora Ruth Hughes and Vickie Lynn Hughes; and two granddaughters.
