Obituary

Jane Shropshire Otto, a longtime Thousand Oaks resident, passed away early Sunday morning, July 31, following complications from a fall.

Born in Birmingham, Ala., in 1924, Jane traveled the world with her husband, Lt. Col. Robert L. Otto. After coming to Thousand Oaks in 1961 with her husband and daughters, she felt she was home. Jane was legendary in her great energy in her community, her deep involvement with St. Patrick's Episcopal Church where she was on the Altar Guild, active in the Mad Attic, OSP, a prayer outreach committee, as well as a member of the Vestry for three years.

The sister of Dede England, sister-in-law of Reverend James W. England, St. Patrick's first rector, Jane was one of the churches earliest members.

She will be deeply missed by her friends and neighbors; daughters, Patricia, Jane Robyn and Teresa; her grandsons, Ian and Evan Klaus; nieces, Jinx Wolf and Ruthanne England; and nephew, Duffy Shropshire.

A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, One Church Road (off El Monte Drive), Thousand Oaks, this Saturday, August 13, at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow. The family welcomes all who would like to join in remembering Jane's life and her many contributions, and requests any donations and/or remembrances to be directed to St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.
