DALTON- Death of Silas L. Sears Silas L Sears, 85 of Dalton, died Monday evening at his Depot street home after a short illness. Mr Sears spent 25 years of his life as a mechanic in the Boston and Albany railroad shops in Springfield. Mr Sears was born in Dalton February 9, 1833. Twenty one years of his life were spent in Hawley, where he lived on a farm. He was a member of the Methodist church, also of Globe Lodge of Masons of Hinsdale. He is survived by a son, Walter Sears, two brothers Henry S Sears of Dalton and Roswell Sears of Pittsfield, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Barton of Dalton. The funeral will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock Rev Leigh Diefendorf, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Funeral service will be in charge of the Masons.
