Ray John Hinman, 75, of Whiting, died Friday, December 8, 2006 at the Onaga Hospital. He was the son of Ray Louis and Julia Eckert Hinman. He graduated from Denison High School. He had lived in Denison and for the last 10 years had lived in Whiting. He had worked for Jayhawk TV in Holton and for the Holton Power Plant. He later worked as a machinist for Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years. Mr. Hinman served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 during the Korean War as an electrician. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He married Gwyn L. Daugherty on February 9, 1956 in Holton. She survives. Other survivors include 2 sons Wade Hinman and his wife Judy of Denison, Lee Hinman and his wife Lori of Valley Falls; a daughter Rosa Thomas and her husband William of Whiting; 2 sisters Kathleen Martin of Shelton, WA, Mary Bell of Orville, CA; 6 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Denison Cemetery.
