Pioneer View Homesteader Dies
Mary Agnes Cunningham, 85, a pioneer resident of the Burley project, died Friday at her home after a short illness.
Born in 1862, a daughter of Joshua and Mary Bathgate Adams, she was married to James C. Cunningham, Oct. 13, 1881, in the Salt Lake Endowment house. They lived in Amerian Fork until 1904, when they moved to Albion. After residing there until 1909, they moved to the Burley project, homesteading at View. In 1917 they moved to Burley, where they have since made their home.
Mrs. Cunningham was an active member of the LDS church. She served as counselor in the View Relief Society and was a Relief Society teacher for 50 years. She was the oldest member of the fourth ward church.
Survivors include five sons, James Henry of Pocatello Joshua, Elmer, Joseph and [Robert] Delos of Burley; two daughters, Mrs. Ermina Mark, Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Elizabeth Hoagland, Calif., 29 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband and three children [Mary Melinda, Iva, and Cenith].
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the LDS tabernacle with Bishop Francis Carter officiating. Interment was at View.
