Beegle - Leland Jay, 93, of Englewood Fl, formerly of Johnstown, passed away on November 25, 2023, at the Venice Hospice House surrounded by his family. Leland was born in Johnstown, PA, on December 13, 1929, to the late Walter Samuel Beegle and Bernadetta Louise Blough.


In addition to his parents, Leland is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Christine of 57 years; son-in-law, Lester Banks; brother, Walter Ray Beegle, and sister, Zelda May Beegle.


Leland is survived by his children, Adele Deal and husband David, Cheryl Beegle Banks, Rhonda Paruch and husband Frank; grandchildren, Ryan Deal and wife Rebecca, Jackie Braud and husband Jason, Jennie Redburn and husband Jeremy, Matthew Paruch and wife Ashley; great grandchildren, Luke, Dean, and Eli Paruch, Rhett and Ramee Deal, Jonathan, William, and Andrew Braud, Caleb and Wesley Redburn, and many nieces and nephews.


 Leland served in the reserves with the Merchant Marines during the Korean War. He and his wife Alice had been snowbirds in Florida since 1991 but enjoyed their winters in Florida and summers in Pennsylvania with their family and friends. Leland moved to Florida full time in 2008 and had lived with his daughter, Rhonda, in Englewood since 2017. He worked at Bethlehem Steel Company as a grading clerk in the metallurgical department for over 30 years. Leland was a Lions Club Member and was involved in the Inner Service Club as well as Meals on Wheels. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, collecting stamps and coins, as well as going to movies and out to eat. Leland will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.


Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Adam Dotts officiating. Committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Meals on Wheels Organization. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
