YAKIMA - Virginia Marie (Stevens) Barney was born January 9, 1931 in Yakima. She graduated from Davis High School. For several years she was an activities director at various nursing homes in the Yakima area.

Virginia was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a two year mission to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Northern Arizona.

She is survived by her husband Everett Barney of Union Gap; daughters, Lee Fleming (Gary), Ann Lewis, and Tana (Michael) Hall; step children, Roger Barney, Linda Zamago, Wendy Beldin, Nita Marie Todd and Evan W. Barney; sister Merilee Dow; sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her son Gayle Hall; parents Frank and Vera Stevens; and brother Frank Stevens.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1414 S. 72nd Ave., Yakima.
