Leota Mae (Putman) Beutler passed away on September 9, 2016, at the age of 85, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born in northern Greene County, Missouri on November 17, 1930, to Orin David and Mamie Mary (Coffey) Putman. She was married May 25, 1951, to Edward Charles Beutler, together until his passing in 1992.

Leota received her master’s degree from MSU and taught middle school home economics for 31 years, mostly at Pleasant View School. She was the epitome of the perfect homemaker. She always cooked wonderful meals for her family, including her famous cinnamon rolls, and made sure that everyone had plenty to eat. She sewed hundreds of items of clothing for her children, grandchildren, and dolls. She made beautiful cakes for every birthday, arranged flowers, gardened, and canned food. After retirement, she loved to quilt and has made dozens of quilts for her family. She enjoyed travel and went to six of the seven continents and most US states. She loved playing cards and other games with family and friends, and had a reputation among her grandchildren for winning by sometimes questionable means.

She is survived by her sister June Kaufman and her four children – Linda Arnall and husband Gary of Springfield, Gail Beutler-Eyman and husband Jim Eyman of Topeka, Kansas, Sandy Sheeley and husband Jeff of Springfield, and John Beutler and wife Vinita Goyal of Berkeley, California. She is also survived by grandchildren Dan, Matt & Ben Arnall, Pamela Mahajan, Nick Spradlin, Adrianne & Ethan Eyman, Emily, Laura, Jacob & Claire Sheeley, and five great grandchildren.

Services for Leota will be at 10:00 am Monday, September 12, 2016 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with interment following in Mount Comfort Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, September 11, 2016 in the funeral home.
