Flusche died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in Muenster.
Born Aug. 23, 1916, in Lindsay to John P. and Maria (Mary) Sandmann Neu, she was a homemaker. She was 2 1/2 years old when her mother died in 1918 in the flu epidemic. Her father married Margaret Schmidlkofer Neu, who was the only mother she knew. She attended Lindsay School.
On Feb. 26, 1935, she married Conrad Max Flusche in St. Peter's Church in Lindsay. They lived in Muenster for one year then moved to Decatur. Conrad Flusche and his brothers Al and Lawrence brought their Flusche Brothers partnership to Decatur from Muenster as Ford dealers and bus depot managers.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Decatur and its Ladies Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad, in 1972; two sons, James and Jerry; a daughter-in-law, Sally Flusche; three granddaughters, Cynthia Savage, Joyce Knabe and Julia Schmidlkofer; a grandson, Mitchel Hurley; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Sicking; a great-grandson, Lucas Krahl; infant sister Elise Neu; sisters Bernadine Schmidlkofer, Sister Mary Olive Neu, C.D.P. and Elizabeth Green; and brothers John Jr., Frank and Herman Neu.
She is survived by two daughters, Viola Schmidlkofer and husband, Joe, of Lindsay and Evelyn Sicking and husband, Jerry, of Muenster; a daughter-in-law, Judy Flusche of Decatur; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Stephen and Victor Schmidlkofer, Darwin Sicking and Carl, Conrad and Richard Flusche.
The family requests memorials be made for research to prevent blindness or to cure diseases.
