GRAY - Services for Philip Blanks will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Highview Cemetery, Gray. Blanks, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a graduate of the University of Georgia, a registered forester and consultant and co-owner of B&B Pulpwood Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, past treasurer, member of Arthur Jordan Sunday School Class and Youth Sunday School Class teacher. He was the widower of Mary Blanks.

Survivors include his children Nonnie Blanks of St. Simons Island and Lisa Horkan of Moultrie; stepson Elliot Griffin Jr. of Albany; brothers Jerry Blanks of Gray, John Blanks of Macon and Oscar Blanks of Decatur; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 tonight in Bridges Funeral Home and may be contacted at the residence on Luke Smith Road, Jones County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gray, P.O. Box 429, Gray 31032.
