Pvt. Pearson was born on Oct. 10, 1918, near Bloomfield, the son of Verlin and Melvina Pearson. He was inducted into the United States Army in May, 1944, and received his basic training at Ft. McClellan. He was sent overseas on Nov 5, 1944 with the 80th Division, 151st Infantry, and served only until Dec. 3, 1944.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Alta Frye Pearson; two children, Evelyn and Donald Lee, both at home; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Pearson; four sisters, Mrs. George Hamlin, Mrs. Ben Reed, Mrs. Rufie Reed and Mrs. William Wiles, all of Bloomfield, and two brothers, Argle and John Pearson, also of Bloomfield.
The body arrived in Linton yesterday afternoon and was brought to the Jenkins Funeral Home here. This morning, the body was removed to the home of the parents, where it will remain until the hour of the services Sunday afternoon.
Burial will be in the Tulip Cemetery.
