Suggested edit: MAPLETON – Clarence A. Archer, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at a Caribou health-care facility. He was born March 7, 1921, in Mapleton, the son of John and Rosetta Archer. Clarence served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at the A B C Bakery as well as McCains in Easton and Smythes I.G.A. in Presque Isle. He served his community as assistant fire chief in 1953 and was a member of the Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his five loving children and families as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Clarence was predeceased by his loving wife Amber Rose Archer. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mapleton United Methodist Church with Layspeaker Mary Lou Brown, Methodist Student Bangor Theological Seminary officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Southside Cemetery in Mapleton.
