Originally from PA or VA depending on disputed boundary lines. Ruth Dickey's book: page 1, first paragraph. "Indian Treaty opened up in Lawrence County the same year in 1816, so the family moved here."

Jacob "Wind Clan" Pennington, Revolutionary War, 1755 – 1827
Born in South Carolina. He was the father of nine children. One of who is famous: William (White Eagle) Pennington, War of 1812, 1787 – 1859.

Mary Kesiah Tuttle, 1755 – 1801
Also, born in South Carolina. Mary was a full blooded Cherokee. Her parents were the famous Cherokee Chief Tuttle and Pokerhunters.
