Flossie May Jones Duncan was the second daughter of Samuel Paul Jones and Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Kimble Jones. She was born and raised in Linden, TN.

In 1918 she married Bernard E. Duncan, also of Linden. They had four children: Van Hubert, Dimple Marie, Marguerite Elizabeth, and Willie Ray.

At some point after 1920 the family moved to Washington, DC. Flossie died in 1928 from septicemia and her children were placed in the Eastern Star Children's Home where they lived until adulthood. Bernard never remarried.
