Verna Marie (Mason) Crawford was born Wednesday; August 25, 1920 near Ruthven; Palo Alto County, Iowa to James and Marie Katheryn (Eck) Mason. She attended school in Ruthvan where she graduated from high school. On December 19, 1969 she was united in marriage to Donald Crawford at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Don and Verna made their home on a farm in Crystal Township until moving to Traer; Tama County, Iowa in October 2005. She was a member of the Traer United Presbyterian church and Bon Volante. Verna enjoyed cooking, gardening, needlework and camping. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Verna was admitted to Covenant Medical Center where her death came on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at the age of 86. Those left to mourn her passed are her husband Don of Traer; two step daughters Kathy A. (John) Brady of Waterloo; Black Hawk County, Iowa and Carolyn Crawford (Bob) Howe of Solon; Johnson County, Iowa. One son-in-law, Stan Glawe of Pleasant Hill; Polk County, Iowa. Eleven grandchildren, Tracy Glawe, Tamra Glawe, Kirk Glawe, Sherry Maddox, Sara Brady Robinson, Andrea Brady, Scott Brady, Julie Jines, Don Nelson, Lisa Howe and Gina Howe;12 great grandchildren, Sam, Sarah, Kallen, Carter, Ben, Grace, Jackson, Cole, Shawn, Rachel, Amanda and Alicia. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son James Nelson and one daughter Mary Kathleen (Kathy) Glawe.
