Heman Brown Sr was born 14 Feb 1757 in Kent Township, Litchfield County, CT. He married Mary West, who was born in 1757 and died 25 Jun 1812 in Bethany, NY. Heman was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He served in Capt. Powell's Co. of Militia in the Alarms of Barnard and Royalton, VT 1780/1. In 1790 and 1800, they show up on the Strafford Orange County, VT census. They lived there until 1807, when they moved to Bethany, Genesee County, NY, settling at Brown's Corners road 17 Corner 19. Heman married second, Mercy. Heman died 13 Jul 1829 in Genesee County. Mary, Mercy and Heman are buried at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Bethany.
