A man of honest character and retiring disposition Mr. Perkins was a loving father and enjoyed singing with the local chorale group. He played the piano quite well and served often as accompanist for his daughter Isabella. During his freer moments Mr. Perkins could be found tending his considerable vegetable garden and extensive flower beds. Peaceable and unobtrusive by nature, Mr. Perkins was of a singularly kind and understanding nature.
He married, in 1902, Katherine Ray Turner of Middleboro, Massachusetts.
They raised four children:
Elizabeth James Perkins (1904 - 1989)
Isabella Greene Perkins (1906 - 1988)
Julian Turner Perkins (1907 - 1978)
Amelia Ray (Perkins) Hall (1910 - 1985)
