Isaac and some of his brothers migrated from Anderson, Indiana to Missouri in about 1859 or 1860.They settled in Iron Summit after a wheel came off the wagon and they were stuck there.Isaac changed the name to Hancock.

Isaac and his wife Paralee homesteaded a farm in Hancock , Pulaski Co. Missouri, on a grant from President James Buchanan on the 1st day of October 1860. It is filed in book 1 page 316 on Jan 15 1872. I have the abstract of the folks who owned this land beginning with Isaac. Isaac named the town of Hancock after General Hancock of Indiana, who fought in the battle of Gettysburg in the Civil War.

This land latter became the home of my husband and his family. It had a two room log house on it and they added two more rooms. It is still standing today.
