"Adam Vos - was born in Holland and departed this life on February 10, 1926 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Relyea near Almyra, Arkansas, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 25 days. Mr. Vos removed from Holland to Iowa in his early life, where he reamined for a number of years, removing to Almyra thirty years ago where he has since that time been numbered among the most progressive and respected citizens. For almost forty-nine years he had the loving companionship of his good wife, who preceded him in death a few weeks ago, since which he has numbered the hours, looking forward to joining her in the Better Land. Two of their children preceded them but seven are left to mourn their going: Mrs. W. Wichhart of Pella, Iowa; Mrs. C.F. Relyea of Almyra; Mrs. Gertrude Glidewell of Heber Springs; Mrs. Fred Hansen of Almyra; Herman of Detroit, Michigan; John and Charlie of Almyra; two brothers and two sisters of Iowa, besides a nubmer of relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Vos made a profession of faith in Christ in his boyhood days and united with the Church of the United Brethren and to the end lived a consistent Christian life. He leaves a priceless heritage to his children - a good name. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He was indeed a friend to man. Uncle Adam (as he was familiarly called) will be missed not only by his family, but by all who knew him. He sleeps in Jesus. And we have noticed that -- "There's something in the 'parting hour' Will chill the warmest heart -- Yet kindred, comrades, lovers, friend, are fated all to part; But this I've seen -- and many a pang has pressed it on my mind-- The one who goes is happier than those he leaves behind." Rev. D.E. Steely conducted the funeral services of Mr. Vos, Friday afternoon at the Baptist Church and the remains were laid in the Almyra cemtery by the side of his wife. There were lots of lovely flowers. A number of relatives and friends from Stuttgart attended the funeral. The children have the sympathy of many friends at this time."
