Mr. Merrick was a member of Sacred Heart Church, American Legion Post No. 32 and was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Viola Stanley of Springfield; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Goldie Honigman of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Services were at the Sacred Heart Church.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
