ANNA ELIZA GAYLORD
Anna Eliza Gaylord of Seymour passed on from this life August 13, 1974 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon at the age of 75 years, two months and 15 days.
She was born in Mills County near Hastings, Iowa on May 29, 1899 to Thomas J. and Anna E. Shamblen, being the eleventh of thirteen children. One brother, Harry E. Shamblen of Palmdale, California survives her.
She was united in marriage to Clyde Walter Gaylord November 18, 1923 with whom she shared 41 joyful years. Their first home was on a farm near Tabor. In February, 1939, they purchased a farm northwest of Seymour, where they lived until February 1965 when her beloved husband passed on.
She professed Christ as her savior in her early married life in Christian Church at Tabor. In 1949 she became a member of the first Baptist Church in Seymour.
She is survived by her six children: Mrs. Gladys Hanlon of Ashland, Oregon; Mrs. Pearl Sincock of Conogo Park, California; Mrs. Alice Lacey of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Hazel Keeney of Campbell, California; Clyde Lavern Gaylord, Sheldon, Iowa; and Roger Dean, Seymour; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, August 16 at the First Baptist Church in Seymour, with Reverend Lavern Gaylord officiating.
Becky Hamilton sang "In the Garden' and "Sweet Bye and Bye" accompanied by Sandra Hamilton.
Pallbearer's were David Cobb, Floyd Parks, Gilbert Wills, Bill Gibbs, Willard Lewis, and James Horton. Interment was in Southlawn Cemetery at Seymourd.
