Clyde “Tiny” Oswell was born on February 8, 1917 to Oscar and Emma Oswell and passed away December 15, 2014 in Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton.

He met Anna Anderson while attending Blackhoof Valley Grade School and they later married in 1936 and made their home only a short distance from where they met. They raised their three children in the home they built in the 1950’s and resided there until entering Inter-Faith Care Center.

Tiny served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his discharge he worked overseas construction in Japan, Canada, Newfoundland, Greenland, and Vietnam. He was the owner of Oswell Construction Company in the late 50’s and 60’s.

He was a member of the Bricklayers Union and the Operating Engineers Union. He also belonged to the VFW and served several years on the Carlton County Fair Board where he was instrumental in overseeing the moving of Old “27” locomotive that has made its permanent home on the fairgrounds in Barnum.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Anna; his parents; grandsons, Brian and Bryce Dahlin; and brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Lillian, Gladys, Norman “Bud”, George, Carl, Elizabeth, Frank and Janie.

Tiny is survived by daughter, Loretta (Syd) Dahlin of Carmbridge; sons, Richard (MaryAnn) Oswell of Cambridge and Larry (Sandy) Oswell of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Brad (Karen) Dahlin, Brett (Anne) Dahlin, Barry (Penny) Dahlin, Kim (Paul) Nordenstrom, Jim (Shelby) Oswell, Erin Oswell and Michael (Kathy) Oswell; 11 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Doris Schelinder and Marge Anderson, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 20, 2014 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet, followed by lunch in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Burial was in Sandy Lake Cemetery, Blackhoof Township.
