JAMES L. HENSLEY, 76, of Oakland, IL, died at 11:17 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct 6, 2000, at 10:00 AM. at the Taber Funeral Home, 221 E. Main St, Oakland, IL, with Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Oakland. Military rites will be performed by the Oakland V.F.W, 3637, Oakland. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hensley was born February 25, 1924, at Greenville, Tennessee, the son of Ogle and Stella Scott Hensley. He married Patsy Roberson June 3, 1948, at Marion, Indiana. She survives. Also surviving are two Sons: Jim Hensley and wife Brenda of Arcola, IL and Robert Hensley and special friend Amy Etnire of Charleston, IL; two Daughters: Margaret Clapp of Charleston and Betty Hensley of Oakland, IL; six Grandchildren: Samantha Roberts, Christy Johns, Chelsie Clapp, Scott Hensley, Joel Clapp and Mark Parsley; four Great Grandchildren: Joshua, Corey and Stephanie Roberts and Sidney Johns. He was preceded in death by: his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Mr. Hensley was retired from Hensley Auto Parts, where he was owner and operated. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3637, Oakland. Memorials may be made to Oakland V.F.W. Post 3637, Oakland, IL.
