Eleanor Jean Evans, 87, of Marietta, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at Heartland of Marietta.

Jean was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Moss Run, Ohio, to John and Fannie {King} Hendershot.

She married Willis Evans on Dec. 27, 1947.

Jean worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Marietta Memorial for four years. She was a longtime member of Trinity Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing and reading.

Jean will be deeply missed by her daughters, Donna (Larry) Buchanan of Lower Salem and Teresa (Erick) Biehl of Yorktown, Va.; grandchildren, Jason (Sabrina) Buchanan of Lower Salem, Rachel Biehl of Newport News, Va., Melissa (Chris Manno) Biehl of Norfolk, Va., and Amanda (Kevin) Pettit-Pokora of Allen Park, Mich.; and great grandchildren, Kyndayl, KyLynn, Xavier, Aidan, Violet, Jackson and Marie.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Willis; and her siblings, Dale Hendershot, Leah Anderson, Helen Smith, Ruth Neader, Irene Williams, Clara Rankin and David Hendershot.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Roberts Funeral Home – East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Lou Verdi officiating. The family will receive friends for 10 am. until the time of service. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.
